A Truly Life Saving Story

Recently, Peter Athans of Sky Door Films wrote to MVS about a life saving story. With his Satellite phone that he purchased from MVS and airtime minutes that he had recently added to his plan; Peter and team were able to get the medical assistance they needed at their remote location within a short amount of time.

While filming from a remote location one of their camera operators sustained a life threatening head injury! Because they had their Satellite phone, an Iridium 9555 with Iridium airtime provided by MVS USA, they were able to contact rescue services and a rescue helicopter arrived and evacuated the camera man from the remote area within 3 hours.

Fortunately the camera man is recovering well and Peter wrote to MVS thanking the MVS team for the efficient addition of airtime minutes which allows his team to always be ready for an emergency! Peter commented that before they purchased their own phone from MVS USA, they had used a borrowed one the previous August and it was needed for a rescue also. “We are extremely relieved we had good communications and could get notification quickly out and a helicopter in!”

When last spoke with MVS, Peter mentioned, “I don't like being without communications when the terrestrially based systems are inconsistent.” MVS wishes Peter and his group safe travels and are glad that MVS could provide them with these valuable and reliable products. Currently Peter is training a group of guides on Mt Rainer.
